The dove has at several meanings. On a Jewish gravestone (of which there aren't many in Pulaski County), it would signify peace. In Christian ritual, it signifies the Holy Spirit. The dove first appeared in the first book of the Old Testament, Genesis, carrying an olive branch to Noah. The dove's white color also signifies purity to Europeans. The dove is also connected with life on earth and a fallen, as above, or falling (elsewhere) may signify that this earthly life is over.
