Maybe the most interesting feature in the graveyard is the engraving on the gravestone. This design, called a motif, is usually the marker's defining characteristic, after the name. There is a variety of styles and meaning. We offer a few found here in the Ozarks. We would like to make a comprehensive visual collection of these motifs in the future. We will add to this section as we collect.
The best way to show these motifs graphically, with a regard to quality and download time, is to do them singly, one to a page. We will name them as descriptively as we can.
